For this minimalist photography study of Kamakura, Japan, I hiked up a narrow ridge to look back over the quiet town. From up there, the typical Japanese houses transformed into a study of urban geometry, their modern flat and traditional sloping roofs stacking neatly together like a textured pattern. Just beyond that structured boundary lay the vast, unbroken line of the ocean and an entirely empty sky. I framed this shot to capture that peaceful contrast between the intricate lines of human life and the pure, open void of the sea.
