Standing quietly on the shoreline of Zamami Island, I watched a sudden break in the clouds spill soft sunrays over a few solitary cliffs rising from the ocean. I stripped away everything complicated in this composition, leaning into a Zen-like minimalism that leaves only the bare elements of water, weathered stone, and descending light. To me, this scene is about the beauty of simply being present in a vast, open space without the need to fill it. I hope looking at this photograph gives you a quiet place to rest your mind, just as the island did for mine.
